Sri Rama Navami - 2020
02 April 2020,
Sri Rama Navami, Amid the man made chaos, the most important things not to miss is to give few minutes of your day to the man (Adam who made the Adams Bridge between India's Rameshwaram and Mannar Island of Sri Lanka some million years ago to defeat a Demon.)
Rama Setu: Sri Rama Chandra Built.
Does it occur to anyone particularly to Indians who blame the outsiders for naming everything including this man (Adam) made bridge with some 11 small islands in the Indian ocean, the term "ADAM" is not used in any other language but in Hindi to call the Man, in Hindi we call a man "Adami" to this date :-) and the women is called Aurat, in some Indian languages it is even called Ava, so the Bridge between India and Sri Lanka is aptly named Adam's bridge who was a Hindi (In its ancient form) speaking. (I am not saying that Adam and Eve Bible refers to.)
The best way to read the entire Ramayana in few minutes is to listen or read or sing Nama Ramayana, which has some 112 shlokas in Sanskrit, Sri Rama Ashtakam, Aditya Hridayam , Pibare Rama Rasam and Sri Rama Aarti.
Preparations to make are:
1) Panakam (Water, Jaggery, Lemon Juice, Black Pepper Powder, Ginger Powder, and Cardamom powder, pinch of salt, one can add extra dry fruits crushed also.)
2) Vada Pappu, (Moong Daal raw soaked in water overnight or slightly boiled, with Jaggery and Salt, and Black pepper powder.)
3) And other Naivaidyam like Payasam, Kheer, Fruits, Maha Phalam, Coconuts, Flowers, Patri, sky is the limit etc. etc.
Mantra, there are many, ॐ श्री रामचन्द्राय नमः is one simple Mantra.
For beginners, Rama Navami is celebrated by Hindu's every year on the 9th day of the Bright Moon (Shukla Paksha) in the Chaitra (Around April) Month, this year 2020 it was today 02 April 2020 ending 6:00 Pm, Pushyami Nakshatra.
The main purpose Rama Navami is celebrated with such great reverence is to inculcate the values Sri Rama stands for, he is considered Purushottam, meaning the Purush (Man) of very High Character, and more important to note is, his is the only character which does not change or alter in any situation, environment, time and season, it is one unwavering strong character.
His Astro chart shows Jupiter in Cancer and Moon in its own house Cancer in the Lagna Ascendant), which shows the two planets required for the great character building for any individual.
Other great points to note are:
Eka Patni Vrata - Married physically and Mentally to one women,
Protector of Neeti, Morals and Values for any great society, of course that was Treta Yuga where everyone felt the responsibility, If one person faltered.
So it is not very difficult to get his attention even today in 2020, one has to simply follow his way of life, :-) it is same for any one, If you follow Sai Baba, to get his attention one will have to follow his way of life, one can not follow him and yet dream of counting in millions, :-) same for any deity, one wants to follow Shiva, live like Shiva, one can see hundreds living like Shiva in Kasi, India and then at the end of day they dream of eating Malaiyu.
Aparigrah - This is what is required, which is missing in almost every one's lives, everyone is running in madness behind Parigrah.
Parigrah basically means ‘to amass’, ‘to crave’, ‘to seek’, ‘to seize’, and ‘to receive or accept’ material possessions or gifts from others.[5] The word also includes the idea of doing good with the expectation of benefit or reward, not just for the sake of merely doing good. Parigraha includes the results as well as the intent; in other words, it means the attitudes of craving, possessiveness, and hoarding, but also the things that have been acquired because of those attitudes.
From Upanishads, one point worth mentioning in this context is, on a particular day in a dry season, due to some rain a small puddle is formed in the ground, a man notices it and walks closer to it starts to think how, what, when, who, and also thinks what if someone finds it, should I secure it for myself, then a bird lands next to the puddle and takes a sip from the puddle and fly's off.
Aparigrah's true meaning is live like a bird.
Hope we learn some thing every day from Sri Rama's life and from Ramayana.
