Questions as Comments-Astrology

Following are the questions people have asked and placed them in various posts as comments.

I think my daughter has tahshak kala sarppa yoga, but venus also with ketu in first house(makara lagna) and from 2nd to 6th house are empty she has rahu in 7 th house all other planet are distributed between 7 th and 12 th house, but gulika placed on third house , is this give a strong effect of kala sarappa yoga? any one tell me how may years or in what age that affecting on her ? and she also have raja yoga , and gaja kesari yoga in the chart, on Kal Sarpa Yoga-I

Ans: First thing you have to see is the degrees of Venus and Ketu in First House, Rahu kind of stops effecting after 42 years of Native's age, and Ketu after 48 Years of Native's life, so everyone gets freedom from this Rahu-Ketu deadlock after 48 years of their life, probably why most people after 48 years of their life do better in all spheres of life, but in case of people with Kaal Sarpa Yoga, the deadlock is very hard and struggle is also very hard, and since this condition is present from birth, the effects should also be present right from the birth, and all other planets are swallowed by the Rahu over and over again leaving them useless, the biggest challenge for the native is to break loose with his or her will power, and wonders can happen, and if they leave everything to fate, they have to wait till the grip of Rahu-Ketu loosens after 48 years.

And

View I- Takshak Kal Sarpa Yoga> When Rahu is in the seventh house and Ketu in the first house this yoga is formed. The native has speculative tendencies and can lose wealth by way of wine, women and gambling. There is marital discord in the life of the native.
View II - Takshak Kal Sarpa Yoga - Rahu in seventh house, Ketu in first: There is a need for the person to be extra careful in matter relating to married life and business partnerships.

And Raja Yoga also does not mean she will become some king or queen, it means she might be treated ike a king in which ever sphere of life she lives.

Sir, as you mentioned that 11. SUN-MERCURY-VENUS YOGA. If Mercury, Sun and Venus be together, the native will be insatiable, talkative, intent on wandering and subjected to grief on account of women. does this mean that this person will never be married or if married cannot live happily... what are the other effects of this type of conjunction on Three and more than three Planets in one House at the time of Birth

Marriage is seen with UL, AL, 7th house, Venus, Moon, Ascendant, 4th house, 12th house etc, and this conjunction effects the house in which the three planets are posited, and the general effects are as given above, and these effects might get highlighted when the three planets transit in conjunction, otherwise the general effect remains, to see if the native will get married or not, or his marriage will survive or not, will he derive happiness from his marriage or not, other areas of the chart needs to be examined, like 2nd hosue, 12th house, and also please read 7th house.

I have sani and ketu in 7th house...is there any problem?

Ans: Saturn in 7th house with Ketu, is not a very good position, since Saturn will give negative effects, Ketu will reduce the effects of the house and Saturn.

If you have such a yoga, am I to understand that there will be no enemity between the benefics and malefics in the same house? I have SUN-MERCURY-JUPITER-VENUS YOGA in my 11th house under Scorpio, which is meant to be a good thing but then again MARS the Lord of Scorpio, is in 12th with KETU. I have been told by an astrologist that if I start a business, I will go bankrupt i.e. spend more monay than I will make. Any opinions? on Three and more than three Planets in one House at the time of Birth
11th House is sure highlighted, with multiple planets, and Mars is lord of Scorpio, and Mars gets exalted in Capricorn, which is your Ascendant, and Mars is posited in 12th house Saggitarius with Ketu, business and things related with business is seen from Hora Lagna as the reference point in addition to the 4th, 7th and 11th house, need more information to add anything more then this.

What does two or more planet in a house mean? at Same degrees? or just in a house at varying degrees. some books refer certain orbs for conjuction. if planets are having more orbs e.g. mars at 5.5 deg and venus at 21 deg. what is this combination called? what wud be the effect? Wud be grateful for explaination. Arvind, New Delhi on Three and more than three Planets in one House at the time of Birth

Please read Avasthas of Planets in my blog, under fundamentals of astrology, in layman terms,
imagine each planet has a torch in their hands and at particular degrees the light from the torch falls like a full moon on certain area of your life specified by the house the planet is posited in, so each planet based on these degrees can behave like a child if it is less then 5 degree, and like an old person if the degrees is above 25, and as we know only youth gives maximum output, so will the planets, and when it comes to conjunction or two or three planets together, then you will have see the relations among them and with the house and also with the planet watching them with the torch, ;-), all this will effect the output of those planets with respect to the house, position from ascendant and Moon.

Hello Readers, I have libra lagna and SUN-MARS-MERCURY IN 10TH HOUSE(CANCER SIGN), What are the effect of this tripal conjunction Thanking You, Digant Shah on Three and more than three Planets in one House at the time of Birth

Strength of the planet is seen with number and avastha of the planets, so three planets in 10th house certainly means 10th house is the most strongest house in your chart, strength can be positive and negative, Sun gets debilitated in Libra, and see ithe gap in degrees between Mars, Mercury and Sun, general rule is less then 13 degrees they will be combust, which means they are burning and are useless, and also see if any planet like Jupiter (7th, 5th or 9th house dhristi) and Venus (7th house dhristi) are watching them, which will reduce the hardship, if they are auspicious and are not afflicted with Rahu or Ketu or Saturn, etc, and also if Saturn is watching them then your 10th house will throw challenges at you andyou will be like a gladiator in a ring. :-))

Sir, I have 'Ketu' in the 9th (Meen Rashi) and Jupiter in Ascendent (Cancer). I lost my father in the 26th year of my life. He was 76 years. I want to know if ketu will affect my luck? on Randhr Bhava and Dharma Bhava
Ketu in Dharma bhava with Jupiter in Lagna (cancer) Jupiter gets exalted in Cancer, and it has 9th house dhristi on 9th house and Ketu, Ketu is a shadow planet, it mimics the effects of the house or the planet with which it is posited, and it kind of applies breaks on the effects there by reducing them, you will have see what was the Vimsottari Mahadasha and Antara Dasha when your father passed away, luck means many things, which can be seen from Lagna, 2nd house, 3rd house, 4th house, 5th house, 7th house, 9thhouse, 10th house, 11th house, and Navamsa chart.

Wonderful work and great contribution...my dob 14th dec 1985 11:45 am (vellore , tamilnadu), i have rahu in 3rd house, ketu and mars in 9th, venus, mercury, satrun, and sun in 10th, moon in 11, jupiter in 12...right now i am running rahu mahadasa from 4th quarter of 2007...can u predict something regarding my career..i completed my b.tech..but no job.looking it for last two years on Karma Bhava- 10th House- House of Action/ Social Status/Fame /Authority/Career/ Honors
I think Albert Einstein had Venus, Mercury, Saturn and Sun in 10th House, Pisces, where Mercury gets debilitated, so you have to see which house is your 10th house, and how other planets are connecting with it, Rahu in 3rd is a good position, in fact people with Rahu in 3rd house play the role of Rahu for others, only concern is Jupiter in 12th, too much descipline in the bed is not good, marital life suffers, see for your Atmakarak and where it is placed in Navamsa chart. :-)

Your 10th house is Libra, and Saturn gets exalted in Libra, and Sun gets debilitated in Libra, and Sun is in 8th with Mercury, your life will be a roller coaster ride for sure, and I would suggest develop a great sense of humour and enjoy the ride. :-)) and welcome to the club.

This is seriously exciting . My jupiter, mercury and venus are in 10th house and i find your interpretations exciting. Could please throw some light on Hamsa Yoga ?with regardsRomilromeil@in.com on Karma Bhava- 10th House- House of Action/ Social Status/Fame /Authority/Career/ Honors
Hamsa Yoga: Jupiter in 1,4,7 or 10th (kendra) from the Ascendant or Moon in Cancer, Saggitarius and Pisces, gives the Hamsa yoga effect, which bestows the native with aishwarya, so please check the position of the moon.

What if there is a conjuction of saturn venus and ketu in 3rd house from the ascedant(gemini)and mercury and sun conjuction in 2nd from asc. on Three and more than three Planets in one House at the time of Birth
Gemini Lagna, Lord is Mercury, Mercury and Sun in 2nd house, lord is Moon, Saturn, Venus and Ketu in 3rd House lord is Sun, where is Moon? what are the degrees of Sun, and Mercury,? and most important where is Jupiter and what is its Avastha?.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Effects of Birth in Gemini Ascendant One born in Gemini Ascendant will have a dear wife, be fond of ornaments, charitable, respectable, will have two mothers, will be favorable even to his enemies, be interested in music, fine arts, Vedas, Shastra's, amusement, poetry etc., gentle, fond of beautification, be conceit, truthful, impatient, will have evil sons, be crafty, will have a few relatives, will possess limbs of irregular sizes, will have round eyes, be fierce in appearance, will destroy even fearful enemies and will be endowed with lands, jewels, gold etc.
Saturn in 3rd house will have dhristi on 5th, 9th and 12th house from Lagna, and the general rule for three planets, Saturn, Venus and Ketu are.
If Venus occupies the 3rd, the native will be happy, rich, conquered by women, be vile, little enthusiastic and will be bereft of luck and paraphernalia.

If Saturn occupies the 3rd, the native will be dark in complexion, will maintain physical cleanliness, be base, will have indolent attendants, be courageous, charitable and will have great intelligence

If Saturn occupies the 2nd Bhava , the native will have an ugly face, will enjoy worldly prosperity, be devoid of his own men, will render justice, will later on (in the course of his life) go to other countries and will earn money and conveyances.
If Mercury is in the 2nd Bhava, the native will earn wealth through his own wisdom, will enjoy food and drinks, be auspicious in speech and will have good course of conduct

Great article. Am curious, is it possible for a person to have two sade sati's [7 1/2 x 2 =15] back to back? Hmmm....Cheers, Kapil. on Sade Sati- Kantaka Sani - ( 7,1/2 years of Saturn)

Ans: Sade Sati basically means seven and half years of Saturn transit through the Ascendant, meaning Saturn when transits through 12th house, Ascendant and 2nd house takes 7 and half years, since there is only one Ascendant in a chart there can not be two Sade Sati's back to back effecting the Ascendant, but if Saturn also causes similar effects when it transits through the house where Moon is posited, or Sun is posited, and if that house is 4th house from Ascendant, then back to back two Sade Sati's can happen one effecting the Ascendant and the second effecting the Moon and house, but I think more then Ascendant and Moon, the status of Saturn in the chart makes the difference, like a strong Saturn will cause more havoc in the natives life then the debilitated Saturn, and then also one should see where Jupiter and Venus are posited and in what avastha.

Lagnas Other (Other Ascendants)

ॐ श्री गुरावे नमः !
ॐ नमः शिवाय!

Like the normal Lagna, there are many other reference points to get an idea of various other characteristics of a native with much more clarity, like his basic mentality towards various spheres of life, his business ideology, prospects in career, business, wealth, inheritance, his political career, or prospects in politics, power, fame, authority etc.

Lagna is a reference point to read the lines ahead, Ascendant with Moon as focal point is the normal Lagna as per Vedic Astrology, and this gives us the idea about the general characteristics of a native with respect to the 12 spheres of life manifested by 12 zodiac signs and houses (Bhavas).

Bhava Lagna. From sunrise to the time of birth every 5 Ghatis (or 120 minutes) constitute one Bhava Lagna. Divide the time of birth (in Ghatis, Vighatis etc.) from sunrise by 5 and add the quotient etc. to Surya’s longitude as at sunrise. This is called Bhava Lagna.

Bhava Lagna influences your nature.

Hora Lagna (HL) as you see in any vedic charts is a special lagna calculated as given below,

Hora Lagna. Again from sunrise till the time of birth Hora Lagna repeats itself every 2½ Ghatis (i. e. 60 minutes). Divide the time past up to birth from sunrise by 2½ and add the quotient etc. in Rāśis, degrees and so on to the longitude of Sūrya, as at the sunrise. This will yield Hora Lagna in Rāśi, degrees etc.

Hora Lagna influences earnings, expenditure, savings, scope for career growth and profit or loss in business, so people looking for the status of these characteristics in their chart, then they should take the house with Hora Lagna (HL) as reference point or as Ascendant.

Ghati Lagna (Ghatik Lagna or GL). This Lagna changes along with every Ghati (24 minutes) from the sunrise. Note birth time in Ghatis and Vighatis. Consider the number of Ghatis past, as number of Rāśis, or Ghati Lagnas. The Vighatis be divided by 2 to arrive at degrees and minutes of arc, past in the said Ghati Lagna. The product so arrived in Rāśis, degrees and minutes be added to Sūrya’s longitude, as at sunrise, to get the exact location of Ghati Lagna. So say Maharishis, like Narada.

Ghati Lagna shows the mentality of a native towards fame, power, authority and status, and this is important to see the career of a politician, this will also decide how a person deals with people with power/status or authority.

A person with strong GL might not fall at the feet of people with social power or status, even though this natives status might be very ordinary, and a person with weak GL might fall at the feet of another person even before the person with some social power passes by, even though he might be a son or daughter of a president or a business tycoon. :-)))

Sri Lagna, (SL) Sri lagna is related with Lakshmi which is the blessings of Lord Vishnu, so Sri Lagna gives or enhances the effect of other lagnas and planets.

Sri or Sree is consort of Lord Vishnu, If Lord Vishnu is with Sri Lakshmi, that would mean wealth with blessings, so it would also influence the marital relations, and prosperity, and the mentality of the native towards material aspects of life.

Arudha Lagna: (AL) This shows how others around you perceive you in this world, meaning how you manifest yourself in this world, though your inner self might be entirely different, a very strong person internally might be perceived as a coward by the world and the true self is revealed only after the world interacts, and vice versa, or a very dumb person might rule the world as a genius, and a genius as a dumb person all this can be seen with the Arudha Lagna. (AL), like any lagna point, AL should be seen as another point of reference.

Upa pada Lagna (UL), This lagna shows the nature, life or longevity, and health of the marriage or relations, 7th from UL, gives type of marriage, and 8th from UL gives the health of marriage.

So a complete study of a chart in a general view is complete after it is read from all these angles, then for further minute and specific details we have division charts.

Chandra Lagna: Will show the prospects of marriage and relations when taken as a reference point and rest of the houses counted as 2nd to 2th from Moon.

Surya Lagna: Will show the prospects of power and should be taken as the first reference point like GL, and rest of the houses should be counted 2nd to 12th from Sun.

Indu Lagna: (IL) Will show how much money or wealth you might earn, provided the field of earning is correct as per your chart.

Varnad Dasha. Just by knowing which one can deal with the longevity of a native. If the natal Lagna is an odd Rasi, count directly from Mesh (Aries)to natal Lagna.

If the natal Lagna is an even Rasi, count from Meen (Pisces) to the natal Lagna in the reverse order. Similarly, if the Hora Lagna is an odd one, count from Mesh to Hora Lagna in direct order.

If the Hora Lagna is an even one, count from Meen to Hora Lagna in the reverse order. If both the products are odd Rasis, or even Rasis, then add both the figures. If one is odd and the other is even, then know the difference between the two products. If the latest product in this process is an odd one, count so many Rasis from Mesh in a direct manner; if an even one, count so many Rasis from Meen (Pisces) in reverse order. The Rasi so known will be the Varnad for Lagna.

Effects of Varnad.

Out of the two, viz. natal Lagna and Hora Lagna, whichever is stronger, from there Varnad starts. If the natal Lagna is an odd Rasi, the counting of Dashas is clockwise, otherwise anticlockwise. Lagna Dasha years will equal the number of Rasis, intervening between the natal Lagna and Varnad. Similarly for other Bhavas (Houses).

Should a Kon (Trine) from Lagna’s Varnad be occupied, or drishtied by a malefic, the native will live only up to the Dasha of the said Rasi.

Just, as the Rudra Graha in Sool Dasha is capable of causing evils, the above-mentioned Grahas related to Varnad’s Kon be treated. The Varnad Lagna be considered, as natal Lagna, while the 7th from Varnad will denote the longevity of the spouse, the 11th longevity of elder brothers and sisters, the 3rd longevity of younger brothers and sisters, the 5th the longevity of sons, the 4th longevity of mother and the 9th longevity of father. The Dasha of the Sool Rasi will inflict greater evils.

Similar assessments be made with reference to the Varnad of each Bhava, commencing the first, and the evils and goods due to a nativity be known. These Varnad Dashas are only for Bhavas (Rāśis) and not their occupants. The sub period of each Dasha will be one twelfth of the Dasha and the order will also be clockwise, or anti-clockwise, as explained earlier. The natal Lagna is to be calculated according to birth place, while Bhava Lagna, Hora Lagna etc. are common to all places.

Varnad Lagna, is also related to the varna of the person, there are four varna, Kshatriya, Brahmin, Vaisya and Shudra, which tell us about the kind of work the native will be given.

Varnad lagna influences the mentality of the native with respect to the behaviour in various social situations, few might immediately sit on the floor the moment they come across a rich person, few might stand next to him and few might just avoid such people, all this happens in the mental plane.

Paka Lagna: Paka Lagna is that house or Rasi where the lagneca or lord of the lagna is posited.

e.g. Lord of Gemini is Mercury and if Mercury is posited in Pisces, or Meen Rasi then Meen is Paka Lagna, and lord of Meen, Jupiter is Pakeca or lord of paka lagna.

In a chart, four points should be well placed to sail smoothly through the arena called Earth, Lagna, Paka Lagna, Lagneca, and Paka lagneca.

Paka lagna: (PL) gives a idea about the ideal career, or the field where the mind is applying the intelligence, it also shows your likes and dislikes, fantasies and desires, a person with genius mind can apply his intelligence in any field he desires, and he can excel in that field with out help, where as a weak paka lagna might cause problems to a native to survive in his own field of expertise, so they might look for talented people to ride on their backs. :-))

Pranapada Lagna: (PP) This lagna shows the amount of positive and negative energy in your life and its influence.

Use of Special Lagnas. Keeping the Grahas at birth, as it is, prepare various Bhava Kundalis with respect to each special Lagn and analyze, as done for the natal Lagna.
